Out on The Street - Jamie Webster

When life gets up against you
And you've got no time to think
There are ones that can't comprehend
So they slowly turn to drink

Fall far beneath the breadlines
To the point where they've got no home
Abandoned by the ones they love
And their bodies are reduced to skin and bone

Hey Hey Hey
Hey Hey Hey

We're told to approach with caution
But the thing I find demented
No one's carried out a risk assessment
So these things can be prevented

In a world supposed to be for people
Still only the rich get rich
The working class work
To avoid wet sleeping bags that itch

I'm calling for solutions
I guess a kind of revolution
Replace the institution
With something that can constitute

Cause while they're aging like a fine wine
They're leaving us a fine line
Between having clothes and food to eat
And selling sex and drugs out on the street

Hey Hey Hey
Hey Hey Hey

If it all falls down tomorrow
Or you ever lost your job
How long could you keep buying clothes
Before eyeing them to rob?

Oh it's easy to point blame and anger
When you just can't seem to relate
Don't you know that's the intention
Of your government or state?

I'm calling for solutions
I guess a kind of revolution
Replace the institution
With something that can constitute

Cause while they're aging like a fine wine
They're leaving us a fine line
Between having clothes and food to eat
And selling sex and drugs out on the street

Hey Hey Hey
Hey Hey Hey

I've tried to grin and bear it
But I feel I'm being kind
I'm tired of beating round the bush
So now I think it's time to speak my mind
Speak my mind
